Life is like a box of chocolates

He's who he is
I recently watched this old but inspirational movie. It definitely sits right next to The Dark Knight.I’ve recollections of this movie but i didn’t get what the story was about. Mind you, I was a young kid when i first saw this movie. All i remembered was that the movie was about a man who was handicapped and deeply in love with his childhood friend. But, the movie is ten-folds more than what i knew. Jump in.
Forrest Gump. Released in 1994 and won 13 oscars in 1995. That’s really a lot isn’t it? No matter how many awards the movie recieved, the accolades are’nt enough to truly praise this movie. The true worth of the movie can be found at the moment when you feel there’s a spiritual and mental uplift emanating from the characters; particularly Forrest.
Life is about achieving the things you want to do. It’s a race to see the end. No matter how hard and far it is to get to the finish line, you just have to cross the line and make your mark. See, this movie portrayed it incredibly well. This is a wonderful example of how people can realize their true potential. Forrest is a handicapped man but he’s just like anyone. He has equal opportunities. This post is short analyze on the movie – Forrest Gump.
Besides that, the movie showcased a variety of aspects/facets that makes us who we are . One great example was the importance of upbringing. The crucial years where we find ourselves wondering who we really are is the time when we are blessed with self-awareness. We ponder to ourselves and ask the question “Who am I?” Its good to think through who you are. However, things can spiral out of control. That’s the time when we need supervision, especially from our parents. They have the wisdom to guide us to the right path.

Forrest & Jenny
For those who have watched the movie, Jenny had no direction and she was led astray by unsuitable companions. Her father was of no help either. He molested her when she was a child and that led her to being a slut in her college years. Forrest, on the other hand, had a good mother and did everything she could to bring the best out of him. She went to far lengths to get him to a normal school. Yes, Forrest’s mum even had sex with the principal of the school. Look at how she wanted Forrest to get equal opportunities in life.

Run, Forrest, run
Another aspect the movie covered was the idea of destinies. All of us have the will and power to change our destiny. It depends whether you utilize that gift or totally ignore it. Forrest believes in himself and does’nt let anyone bog him down. He makes the future for himself. His principles are etched to his very soul. That is what makes a man. We can also change other people’s destiny.

Forrest Medal Of Honour
In the movie, Forrest helped his Lieutenant avert the inevitable – death in the battlefield. His Lieutenant was against the idea of Forrest helping him out because he thought that it was his destiny to die in the battlefield. He hated Forrest. He finally realized not everything is written in stone. We can change our destinies. The decisions we make have consequences. Its in the very fabric of nature. It’s kinda like cause and effect. I have this anology. Lets say you are weaving pieces of cloth to make a shirt for yourself – to protect yourself. But, you are tired of weaving and find yourself a shirt in the departmental store. Sure, the shirt is going to protect you but it’s not yours. Its not made by you.
What i’m trying to say is that we make our own principles and destinies. and not follow others blindly. The principles will drive us and protect us from the external or evil influences we face everyday. We are who we are. I am who i am. Don’t let anyone block you the path to your dreams.
Lastly, words alone cant describe Forrest Gump. It is a movie deserved to be watched by you.
